I am very passionate about meeting people where they are at. I truly believe that each individual is doing their best with what they have and what resources are available to them. The compassion that I have for others has led to me to invest in groups that are near and dear to me personally. I am committed to serving those that have felt out of place, are underrepresented, and those that experience prejudice due to various elements of their identity. My name is David Serbin. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #147386) and Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC #15666). Through therapy, I work with clients to help them see the positive storylines in their lives. I help make counseling fun for clients through narrative building, developing strategies for challenging negative self-talk, self-exploration of strengths, and games, among other ways. I believe that each client has the main ingredient for success in therapy: hope. I love working with young adults who are trying to find out who they are. My clients are motivated and driven, yet searching for deeper meaning and purpose in their lives. They often feel they have unmet needs or goals they want to achieve but have yet to accomplish. In our first session, we'll start with introductions, then dive into the challenges you're facing and hopes for our work together. Having worked with individuals and couples over the past 5 years, I've been able to offer compassion to people who have been in environments where they could not be open about their mental health or only experienced tough love. I strive to create an environment where you will feel safe to be your true self. I often assign homework between sessions. This may include worksheets or journaling exercises. Contact me if you are interested in booking a consult or therapy session and I will do my best to respond within a few hours.

I work with adults and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, PTSD, self-esteem challenges, and relationship difficulties. I am especially passionate about supporting first-generation individuals and high-achieving clients who feel pressure to meet family, cultural, academic, or professional expectations while trying to stay connected to themselves. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and create a space where your experiences, values, and identity are genuinely respected and understood.
Therapy offers a confidential place of refuge where you can be seen and heard. Together we will explore how daily external pressures and feelings of self-blame, self-criticism, fear or sadness, as well as loss and past trauma, may be affecting your ability to move forward or express yourself in an authentic way. By devoting time and attention to understanding your unique story and the ways in which past relationships shape current ones, you can gain greater self-awareness and an understanding of how underlying feelings and thoughts are affecting your mood. In building a strong, supportive relationship I will help you uncover core issues. I primarily use a psychodynamic, creative approach to guide my clients towards greater self-compassion and clarity that will allow you to feel more confident in your ability to change and heal.
Feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, and grief are part of life, but when they begin to interfere with work or relationships, it may be time to connect and seek support. I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology. After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, I spent four years working in PR within the entertainment and nonprofit industries. I am passionate about helping individuals struggling with eating disorders find recovery using a Health At Every Size/Intuitive Eating perspective. I work with young women, adolescents, and individuals to help them lessen their burdens and embrace their newfound freedom using a blend of theoretical orientations. I enjoy collaborating with my clients on what works best for them to help them meet their goals and am committed to creating an inclusive environment in my practice.

If you’re a student feeling overwhelmed by balancing academics, relationships, family expectations, and figuring out who you are, you’re not alone. I work with students who tend to keep it all together on the outside but feel anxious, stuck, or burnt out inside. You might be a deep feeler or an overthinker, someone who struggles with saying “no” or feels the weight of trying to please everyone. Maybe you’re navigating cultural or family expectations that clash with what you want for yourself. In our work together, we’ll slow down and create space for you to explore what you’re feeling in your mind and body. I’ll help you build tools to manage stress, set healthy boundaries, and feel more at ease in your own skin—without judgment or pressure. My approach is gentle, supportive, and focused on helping you connect with your values so you can make choices that feel right for you.

Are you ready to take your life back? Has it felt out of control with recent changes or continued stressors/triggers that you just can't figure out how to manage? Is this impacting your job, your ability to complete schoolwork, your relationships, or perhaps other aspects of your life that are important to you? Let's work on this together. Reaching out for help may feel scary but I can help you stand in your power.
Many of the students I work with feel overwhelmed by their thoughts, anxious about the future, or stuck in patterns they can’t seem to break. Some deal with intrusive thoughts, constant worry, or panic that gets in the way of school, relationships, or sleep. Others are coping with past experiences, burnout, or the pressure to “keep it all together.” I offer a space where you don’t have to pretend you’re fine. Together, we slow things down, understand what’s happening in your mind and body, and build tools that help you feel more grounded, confident, and in control of your life.
