Therapists for college students near Atlanta, GA
I believe myplace is to journey alongside you as a companion, offering guidance and perspective to empower you towards healthy choices and lifestyles. I believe everyone has their own strengths, values, and virtues that can be used to help guide the therapeutic process. I often see clients who feel stuck or overwhelmed by their emotions. I also frequently work with matters of meaning making, queerness, and spirituality. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or for a free consultation.
On the outside, things look successful. People rely on you, and you generally handle what’s in front of you. But internally, it can feel very different. Your reactions feel stronger than you expect. You hold yourself to impossibly high standards. That critical inner voice is quick to point out what you should have done better. Even when you accomplish something meaningful, it rarely feels like enough. You may be someone who was labeled “gifted” or high-achieving early on. You’re thoughtful, capable, and used to performing well under pressure. Yet the constant drive to get it right can leave you exhausted. You might notice tension in your body that never quite goes away or difficulty truly relaxing. You understand your patterns and may have even done therapy before, but insight alone hasn’t fully created the change you’re looking for. In our work together, we move beyond simply talking about the problem. I integrate EMDR and somatic-informed approaches to help your nervous system process experiences that may still be driving anxiety, perfectionism, or emotional intensity beneath the surface. When the body has a chance to settle, the mind often follows. Therapy becomes less about “figuring it out” and more about creating meaningful, embodied change. Our sessions are collaborative, focused, and respectful of your time and intelligence. I provide a calm, professional space where you can slow down without losing momentum. Together, we clarify what matters most to you and work toward a life that feels grounded, balanced, and genuinely fulfilling; not just successful on paper. If you’re ready for therapy that goes deeper than insight alone and supports lasting change, I’d be glad to connect. I invite you to schedule a free consultation through my website.
I address anxiety stemming from social, school, and family dynamics, providing the necessary support to navigate these changes. I assist in the transition from college to career, including complexities in dating, family, and work, offering a safe space to explore self-identity and achieve life goals. We will collaborate using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy. What does this mean? It means we will identify the false scripts keeping you stuck and create a new storyline where you are the main character shaping your life. In my space, every uncomfortable feeling is accepted, and every question is worth asking. Whether you’ve never sought counseling before or have been in therapy for years, I believe my approach is unique. My goal is to empower you and watch you succeed. So, let's connect and collaboratively rewrite your narrative.
College is a time of immense growth, but it can also feel like you're expected to have everything figured out. The pressure to choose the right major, land the right internship, and map out your entire future can feel suffocating. I know this firsthand - I changed careers a few times before finding my path in counseling. I understand what it's like to sit with the uncertainty of wondering whether you're on the right track and feeling like you're falling behind while everyone else seems to have it together. Whether you're adjusting to a new campus, navigating the independence of college life, or struggling with anxiety and depression, I provide a space to unpack those pressures and reconnect with what actually matters to you. I also enjoy working with student-athletes. Balancing the demands of academics and athletics comes with a unique set of pressures. When so much of your identity is tied to performance, it can be difficult to know who you are outside of your sport. There are a lot of challenges involved such as adjusting to a new team environment, managing the weight of expectations from coaches and peers, or facing burnout and the emotional toll of competition. Together, we can work to build resilience that extends beyond the field or court and help you develop a stronger sense of self that isn't solely defined by your achievements. In therapy, I offer a warm, collaborative approach where healing happens through genuine connection. I believe people suffer most when they are living out of alignment with their own values and desires rather than the expectations placed on them by society, family, coaches, or culture. Part of our work together is identifying those messages and exploring which ones are truly yours.

I find myself often working with high-achieving folks who have been thrown one too many curve balls in life. Whether it's a life transition, a break up, overwhelm with work, stress with family members, or a death, these folks find themselves at the end of their rope and needing to find a pressure-release valve.
I specialize in working with college and graduate students, young professionals, and couples, empowering them to develop skills to manage anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, and explore their self-identity. I also work with first generation and children of immigrants and am committed to maintaining a culturally-informed practice that honors the different ways that people experience and think of their identity. Navigating the complexities of life can be challenging, especially when you’re dealing with things like anxiety, relationship issues, and major life transitions. Maybe you're struggling with the pressure of classes, or with adjusting to your new environment and building relationships. Or you might feel like you’re always anxious about getting things right or not knowing what's going to happen, and worry is becoming exhausting. Perhaps you're at a point where you want to learn more about the impact of your cultural background on your identity and explore the experiences you've had. Going to therapy can be a courageous step towards personal growth and self-reflection to develop the tools needed to manage symptoms and align ourselves more with our goals. Whether you're navigating major life transitions, managing work-related stress, or facing challenges in your relationships, my practice provides a supportive space to help you build resilience. By incorporating evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with compassion and mindfulness focused models, I provide a non-judgemental and empathetic environment in my work with clients. For couples therapy, I utilize the Gottman method to help couples improve their relationships. I am licensed in the state of Georgia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC015213). I earned my M.S. in Counseling with an emphasis on Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in Psychology, English, & Classical Studies from Emory University. I provide both in-person and virtual sessions to make therapy accessible and convenient for clients in the Decatur area and beyond. Whenever you’re ready to take a step towards therapy, I would be happy to speak with you and answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process over an initial consultation. I work with individuals who may be successful in many areas of life but still struggle to understand and manage their emotions, especially as they navigate difficult life transitions or deal with symptoms of depression and anxiety. In our work together, we will explore how you relate to others and how you may relate to the world, as well as examine underlying thought patterns and how those might influence your emotions and your behaviors. I also offer comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for concussion / traumatic brain injury, attentional disorders, and other neurological conditions.
Stressed? Overwhelmed? Over it??? I get it...This is a very stressful time. I am here for you...Everything is suddenly different and this can be alarming. I teach people how to get better at stress, stop procrastinating & stay motivated while we work on healthy habits (like meditation!) & happy living. I enjoy working with students age 25+ in advanced degree programs. I provide support with adjustments, transitions, stress, anxiety, grief/loss, intersecting identities, relationship concerns, feeling stuck, and personal growth. Life challenges can present opportunities for healing and growth. I strive to create a safe space for students to process their experiences and gain new perspectives on their situations. My style blends attentive listening with gentle inquiries designed to promote fresh insights. I have a holistic orientation and can help you integrate mind, body and spirit into the counseling process.
I’ve always been an “old soul” and felt drawn to finding deeper meaning in a chaotic world. I’m deeply interested in others’ stories and understanding how we grow, heal, and thrive — so I suppose it wasn’t a big surprise that I found my way to the field of counseling. I’ve often found myself in awe at how the human spirit can weather even the greatest of storms. I primarily work with individuals and couples who are experiencing anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, loss, and relationship issues, as well as career and professional issues. Additionally, I provide performance consulting for athletes and executives. I received my Master’s degree from Richmont Graduate University in 2009 and went on to complete my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Auburn University. I am currently pursuing certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant. I practice from an eclectic orientation integrating psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT!), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Gottman method and Emotion Focused Therapy depending on the client’s needs. I am trauma informed in my approach to treatment. It is important to note that I have specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention as well as the Gottman Method. I was a professor in graduate counseling programs for over 10 years which has enabled me to develop expertise in several areas across the curriculum for counselors. I also draw from years of management experience in corporate and family businesses. When I’m not working, you’ll find me spending time with my family or pursuing my love of beautiful things through travel, flower arranging, or hiking. I am also an avid but marginal tennis player.
