I am licensed mental health therapist with a private practice in Brookline, MA. I offer in-person and/or Telehealth visits. I treat individuals and couples presenting with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, and relationship challenges. My approach to therapy involves fostering interpersonal communication, problem-solving and coping skills while helping clients gain insight into how their life experiences influence their present functioning. I am an active therapist who engages clients on a personal level through reflective listening as well as focused questioning. I received a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Couples and Family Therapy from William James College (formerly Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology).
I enjoy working with students during this time of transition in their lives. Away from home, students must learn to structure their time to study and embark on a social life. This is a good opportunity to develop self-awareness and discover which relationships are best for them. Most of my clients are creative: writers, musicians, actors, artists, photography, and film. Many are introverts and/or highly sensitive people. I help them embrace their introversion as a gift rather than a liability.
You’re feeling overwhelmed around life’s transitions. You may be just starting college and adjusting to all of the changes that come with this, managing roommate or family difficulties, or dealing with the stress of figuring out your next step after graduation. The responsibilities that these phases come with feel like too much. You feel disconnected from those around you and don’t feel like you have the support you need. Your relationships with friends, family, or your partner feel confusing and unsatisfying. You may be feeling stressed, sad, or scared. Life just feels complicated. Hi, I’m Kelly Miller, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I work with individuals and families to help them feel more connected, purposeful and grounded. I will meet you where you are at and take the time to build a trusting relationship so that you feel comfortable. Together, we will connect the dots around your experiences and relationships to better understand yourself. We will work as a team to develop the skills to make life feel more manageable. I am not here to tell you what to do or how to live your life. I’m here to help you figure out how to live your life with intention.

My approach is collaborative, and I focus on helping you find practical tools that fit into your life. Therapy doesn’t have to be intimidating; together, we’ll work at your pace to help you feel more grounded and in control. My collaborative therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), focusing on helping clients understand and shift their thought and behavior patterns. I integrate psychodynamic principles to explore how relationships shape sense of self, understanding of others, and present patterns. My work is guided by a multicultural humility lens, recognizing how culture and systems of power, privilege, and oppression influence mental health and meaning. I aim to create a flexible, individualized space where clients can pause, feel, and prioritize what matters most, grounded in respect, empathy, trust, and collaboration. I work with adults navigating mood/anxiety disorders, grief, identity development, relationships, college adjustment, and other life stressors. I also specialize in providing culturally-responsive care to BIPOC clients navigating acculturation- or discrimination-related stress. I work collaboratively to support clients through periods of heightened distress. My research focuses on suicidality, mood/anxiety disorders, and BIPOC resilience. I have trained in inpatient and residential programs, hospital outpatient care, and university counseling settings. I have experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills coaching. I am a Black American woman, first-generation student, and proud New Orleans native.

I work from the belief that our relationships with others and ourselves can be a source of deep suffering as well as a powerful window into self-discovery, intimacy, and healing. Sometimes, when people come to therapy, they’re looking for a solution to something that feels urgent or overwhelming. At other times, people can't put words to what's wrong, but they know that something that doesn't feel right. Whether you're looking for help with anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, or something else, my goal is to put our heads together to create a space where you feel truly heard and supported in order to find a way forward. I'm trained in English and Spanish in a variety of therapeutic modalities that range from meaning-oriented work and narrative therapy to behavioral techniques, but what's most important to me is that we come together and use pieces of any of those that will be helpful to the person that I'm sitting with. I have a few openings (in-person or virtually). Contact me for a 25-minute free consultation to see if my style would be helpful for you - or to possibly refer you to a colleague. Looking forward to being of service to you!

We work with folks (16+) of all genders to slow down, build more flexibility, and make choices that move them closer to their goals.
