You are really tired. If you’re being honest, your head is spinning & you’re anxious all the time. It’s keeping you from being able to rest, let alone enjoy life. Your thoughts are moving so fast, that it’s hard to stay focused. Now you’re starting to have headaches, racing heart, & tightness in your chest. You’re not sure what to do about it. All you know is that you don’t feel your best & feel that you’ve been letting people down. You feel disappointed in yourself & wonder what is going on with you. Usually things go according to plan and right now that is definitely not happening. It’s starting to become too much. You are really tired. At its core, therapy is about the people sitting in a room together (or often sitting on computers together), and that safety within the relationship is one of the most important aspects of finding a good fit. I am honored to create that space with you. As a therapist, I start with one basic assumption: you are the expert of your own experience. My hope is to empower people to better understand those experiences or to bring in additional perspectives that might shed more light on aspects of one’s life. Informed by my background in queer theory, feminist theory, and anti-racist ideologies, I work with my clients to identify the external structures of power impacting their lives, then engage with the areas of their lives within their control where they can make changes and achieve their goals. While many forms of therapy take from one another and blend together, I begin with trauma informed relational-focused work and draw heavily on DBT/CBT/mindfulness-based therapy modalities. I view therapeutic relationships as dynamic, and work to tailor the experience to my clients’ needs and preferences. Whether you are someone who likes sessions to feel more conversational, someone who appreciates tangible takeaways like worksheets, or someone who wants to spend time practicing skills in our sessions, we can work together to find a treatment plan that suits you.
Hello, some of my strengths include identifying and cultivating strengths in others, giving language to complex feelings, detangling complex issues and finding paths to wholeness. My goal in therapy is to support others to reach their personal goals and even help them identify what those may be if they are unsure. My ideal Patient is motivated to change and open to trying various techniques. I'm dual licensed in the States of Massachusetts and Illinois and provide only Teletherapy. I've been in clinical practice since 2013, yet have 20 years of experience through mentoring young adults. One of my strongest areas of expertise is healing from trauma, of all kinds. What I often find in practice are Patients unaware of neglect and abandonment that they have lived through. I support Patients in identifying pain, creating space to grieve and heal, and creating a new way to experience life alive.
The road to self discovery is scary, and you are taking the first steps in seeking out the right therapist for you. It’s an important investment and you want to make sure you find just the right connection. My approach is deeply personal. Working with each person to learn and identify how they are impacted by the stories of their life and their history. In doing so, we are able to bring out what is truly possible. I believe strongly in the power of our stories. From a very young age, we all start learning things about ourselves and our world. These “life lessons” start to turn into the stories we repeat to ourselves over and over again. They become who we are. Those stories are not always nice and they hold us back. But most importantly, they are often not true! They are the stories we created when we were young and we have retold them to ourselves over and over again in a weird game of telephone with one player.
We are a group of six licensed counselors with varying specialties that covers most people seeking mental health help. We are all trauma informed therapists, if not trauma specialists. We have counselors here that do CBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, among other therapy interventions. Four of the therapists do in person and two are telehealth only. We tailor treatment to each individuals' needs. Please email me to enquire more. I am happy to answer any questions!
You know something needs to change. You're tired of the way you've been feeling. Maybe you're struggling to identify what would help, or you already know what to do, but can't seem to find the motivation to follow through. Maybe you can imagine just what you want for yourself, but you get stuck when it comes to making changes you can stick with, leaving you frustrated, embarrassed, or disheartened. I'm here to help you identify what's working in your life and enhance it, and to find what isn’t working so you can determine, with clarity and kindness, what you want to change and how to develop the life you really want.
To establish a relationship with a therapist takes time and can be rewarding when you are able to build trust, knowing you are able to confide and share your perspective, your story. This process allows the individual the opportunity to gain clarity in a setting that is confidential and accepting. All too often emotional/physical pain can have a significant impact on our ability to remain independent, self-reliant, engaged in everyday tasks and life roles at level of independence that is rewarding to oneself and those they care for. As an Occupational Therapist with a background in behavioral health, I take a holistic approach. As an Occupational Therapist I have assisted many clients in understanding how their performance patterns, habits, routines, and roles influence life satisfaction. This process allows my clients the opportunity to promote, establish (or restore), or modify a task within a life role to create a sense of control over ones life. My background and 25 year experience have demonstrated success in supporting clients who experience physical/emotional pain and reduced functional independence. My ability to allow an individual to feel safe, acknowledged, and empowered while developing the tools and skills necessary for emotional stability, greater independence, and an effective resource.

People seek counseling / therapy for many reasons - to gain understanding and insights, make changes, process experiences, for support and encouragement, and many others. Whether you are looking for a safe place to discuss whatever is on your mind, are interested in making life changes, or just want to give therapy a try, I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and see how I may be able to help. You can count on me to be reliable, truthful, and kind. My approach to therapy recognizes the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship. I identify as queer and specialize in working with members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I am an affirming practitioner. I have over 20 years of experience working with college and graduate students in college counseling centers, and as a result I've had the privilege of working with many people from all around the world. My therapeutic approach is culturally informed and integrates a whole-person perspective along with socio-cultural/political awareness and acknowledgement of the impact of systemic barriers on functioning. I am mindful of my own areas of privilege and how I show up in spaces and may be perceived by others. I attend to how I perceive others based on my own life experiences. I'm always working to educate myself and challenge my assumptions and biases. I read, try to keep up on the news (around the world, not just in the U.S.), and try to engage in conversations with people from various backgrounds. If you would like to have a brief, introductory conversation to discuss what you are looking for and how I may be able to help, please give me a call or send an email. An initial screening consultation is free. I look forward to hearing from you.

You often wish you felt better about yourself, didn't get so easily overwhelmed, and could handle conflict but aren’t even sure where to start. You’ve found yourself questioning if you should talk to someone. You’ve come to the right place! College life is full of changes and challenges. Even if they are good, changes can sometimes be more than we have bargained for and create a lot of stress and anxiety. Through their work with me, my clients have experienced feeling less overwhelmed by emotions, found effective ways to handle conflict with others (like roommates and partners), felt more connected/present, and gained more confidence in themselves. My clients describe me as welcoming, witty, direct, knowledgeable, and relatable. My style of therapy is very collaborative and conversational as I share tools that you can use in between our sessions. You can reduce the amount of anxiety you experience. At the very least, I can help you manage it in a different way that is less disruptive to you, your relationships, and achieving what you want to in school.

With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience! I also use Person-Centered, Humanistic and Narrative Therapy techniques with a Trauma focused lens in my practice.
My approach is warm, energetic, and client-centered. I believe that no two clients are the same, so therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. I strive to tailor each session to the individual, meeting clients where they are and focusing on what they need in that moment. Together, we create an approach that reflects each client's goals, readiness for change, and unique strengths to move forward and gain confidence.
