Therapists for college students near Portland, OR
The college years can be full of fun and excitement, and they can also come with all kinds of challenges - academic pressure, perfectionism, anxiety, homesickness, identity shifts, and major life changes. You may be coping with experiences or challenges you faced before you got to college, or you may be facing new feelings that you aren't sure how to navigate. Whatever it is you’re going through right now, I’ll meet you with compassion & honesty, and we will work together toward your goals as a team. This is always an LGBTQI+ Safe Space. I began my work in mental health 10 years ago and have since worked with all ages in many settings. I support students who are navigating: - Anxiety and perfectionism - Depression - Trauma and past experiences - Chronic illness and chronic pain - Homesickness and life transitions - Identity and self-worth I also support clients in navigating complex medical and school systems, learning self-advocacy, & processing painful experiences. I help clients realize their inner strength, and feel empowered in their own care and in their lives. My approach to therapy is rooted in trust & rapport, because that’s what makes this work together possible. I am warm, honest, and encourage clients to challenge & dismantle negative beliefs they have about themselves. If you are feeling ready to take next steps, please reach out - I'd love to work with you!
I founded Keshet Counseling to support individuals who often feel overlooked or misunderstood in traditional therapy spaces. My work is especially meaningful to those navigating the complexities of chronic illness, such as Lyme Disease, Mold Toxicity, MCAS, and other invisible disabilities, as well as those facing antisemitism or discrimination for not aligning with political or institutional expectations. I also work closely with teens and adults dealing with antisemitism, narcissistic abuse, multicultural identity issues, codependency, love addiction, grief, anxiety, relationship issues, and trauma. My approach is rooted in body centered somatic psychology using mindfulness. We’ll explore unconscious beliefs and patterns shaping your experience by noticing whats happening for you in this moment. I hold a humanistic view of healing: I believe you are already whole, worthy, and deeply capable of transformation. My role is to help reconnect you to your own inner knowing, and I view our relationship as a collaborative space where your voice and wisdom lead the way. I don’t believe there’s something wrong with you, rather, what happened to you.

What do you do when what everyone calls "the best years of your life' just aren't?? The transition from home to college is an exciting one, but one that brings with it many new experiences...leaving home (sometimes for the first time), living more independently, meeting a whole world of new people, and learning more about yourself...your strengths and weaknesses. As a college student you often face adversities such as a lack of stability, increased social and pressures, and a strong push towards academic hyper-achievement. Together with familial and social (media) pressure college students often experience changes in sleep, eating and energy patterns, irritability, a loss of interest in activities previously enjoyed, and substance abuse. Knowing when you need support, and taking the initiative to actually get that help is an important first step in figuring things out. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, homesickness, finding your people or just trying to figure yourself out I hope that I can help.

Are you dealing with an issue related to sex, sexuality, or relationships and in need of a knowledgeable, non-judgemental space to sort through it all? Are struggles with body image, self-esteem, or life transitions making you (or a teen in your life) want to tear your hair or hide under a rock? Are you dealing with grief over losing a person, pet, or role that was dear to you? If you answered "yes" to any of the above, we're a good fit for each other! My approach is compassionate and realistic. I want you to be heard and have the space to process your feelings and experiences while also working toward some form of resolution. If you're seeking support on something related to sex or death, I'm your girl. I have over a decade of experience supporting people on issues of sex, sexuality, and relationships. On the grief end of things, I'm a death doula and certified grief counselor. This all adds up to a comfort topics that it can feel extra-difficult or taboo to seek support for.
College is supposed to be when you figure out who you are, which is a strange task to hand someone who's also drowning in problem sets, roommate drama, and a bank account that hits zero the week before rent. If you're queer, trans, neurodivergent, disabled, fat, BIPOC, or some combination, you're doing that figuring-out with fewer road maps and more people who think your existence needs an explanation. At Soma Roots Therapy, we work with students navigating identity, family expectations, body image, burnout, and the specific loneliness of being surrounded by people and still feeling unseen. Our approach pays attention to what's happening in your body, not just your thought spirals, and it starts from the belief that your struggles usually aren't a personal failing — they're a reasonable response to unreasonable systems (capitalism, diet culture, whichever one's currently ruining your week). We're LGBTQIA2S+ affirming, neurodivergent-affirming, and fat-affirming as a baseline, not a specialty. No pronoun explanations required. No convincing us your body is fine as it is. We show up, we listen, and yes, we'll probably crack a joke somewhere in there — healing doesn't have to be humorless, even when it's hard. We see clients by telehealth across Oregon and Washington, so therapy can happen between classes instead of instead of them. Check out our website to see which insurances we accept and to schedule your Free 20-minute Consult directly from our website to see if we might be a good fit for you.
I enjoy working with motivated individuals and people in all relationship configurations who are seeking change. My style is approachable, warm, and collaborative, with a dash of humor when appropriate. I will be learning just as much from you as you are from me since you are the expert in your own life, even in times when it doesn't feel like it. From my former work as an intake coordinator, I know how hard it can feel to reach out for therapy, and I would be happy to see if I can help you meet your goals with a brief initial phone call.
We are committed to providing accessible, quality mental health and behavioral health therapy to the individuals and families we serve. Through peaceful office settings, and convenient telehealth services, we meet individuals, couples, families, and youth where they are — both physically and emotionally. We believe that healing begins with understanding each person's unique experience. That's why we create individualized treatment plans tailored to your specific needs, challenges, and goals. Our priority is to provide exceptional, personalized support in a comfortable environment where you feel truly heard and valued. Mental health care should never be out of reach. We're here to support you every step of the way, offering professional guidance and genuine care as you work toward lasting well-being.

I have spent the last 6 years working with young adults in the community. Many are in a new place and dealing with transition in their lives. Living far away from home and having to "adult" can be overwhelming. Figuring out what you want to do after college can also be stressful. I would help to provide support during times. I am a playful therapist that has a genuine, person centered approach. I am not a blank faced therapist. I believe that the biggest intervention is the therapeutic alliance that is created between the therapist and client. Building trust, being approachable and connecting with my client's, these things are very important to me. I have lived experience of walking through this community as a Black queer women; this experience helps me connect and build rapport with BIPOC and queer folx. I have experience treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis and pre psychotic symptoms.
