As no two individuals are the same, I tailor my work with each client to address the challenges unique to you. As Ward Foley has stated, "We are not given a good life or a bad life. We are given a life. It is up to us to make it good or bad." I am glad that you found this platform and have taken the courageous first step of being here! When working with clients, I focus on their strengths and their ability to create lasting change for themselves. My approach to therapy is holistic, factoring the mind, body, and spirit into wellness to help empower you. I utilize CBT, mindfulness, and strengths based approaches and provide compassion, healing honesty, and support throughout our time together. I began my career working in both inpatient as well as outpatient settings. I completed my Master's in Social Work at the University of South Carolina. I have worked with a wide range of populations facing a wide range of issues for over seven years- from hospice to trauma, crisis and substance abuse counseling in an inpatient setting, to most recently in the past two years practicing individual counseling in a purely outpatient setting. I am skilled in crisis management and trauma focused CBT having worked in an inpatient mental health setting for three years. I am very comfortable working with anyone from 18 years and up, LGBTQ friendly. I specialize in emotional and physical regulation to help manage difficult situations, depression, anxiety, grief/loss/bereavement, prior trauma/ re-experiencing of traumatic events, geriatric focused counseling, life transitions, and general stress. Hi, I’m Amanda. I work with individuals and couples who want to get to the root of their patterns—whether it’s relational conflict, trauma symptoms, anxiety, or a sense that something deeper is in the way of fully living. Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside but exhausted internally. Others feel flooded, shut down, or stuck in dynamics they can’t quite name. I help you slow down and listen to the wisdom of your nervous system, so we can understand how past experiences may still be living in your body—and gently unwind them. My approach integrates EMDR, somatic therapy, parts work (IFS-informed), and body-based listening tools like the Safe and Sound or Rest and Restore Protocol. I also offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy for those seeking an altered state of consciousness to process trauma or reconnect with meaning. When working with couples, I draw from Relational Life Therapy to help partners move beyond blame and disconnection and into clarity, ownership, and renewed connection. I also offer Discernment Counseling which is a short term focused therapy for couples unsure whether to stay or separate—with compassion for both perspectives. Outside the therapy room, I spend as much time as I can outdoors—going on “bug hunts” with my son, hiking local trails with my husband, or exploring a new interest in horseback riding. I also love yoga, travel, and quiet mornings with coffee and books. If you’re ready to get curious about what your symptoms are trying to say—and want to feel more connected to yourself and your relationships—I’d be honored to support your journey.

Clients who experience the most benefit while working me are those who seek therapy because they are feeling stuck, like they've been living out a script that keeps repeating itself, and who want to make progress moving forward. If you've noticed dynamics within your family or in your past that keep repeating in your relationships, at work, or as barriers to your goals, then my therapeutic approach may be a helpful intervention. If you live in East Tennessee, we have the option of taking our session's outdoors for nature-based therapy and animal-assisted therapy. And if you are in South Carolina, we can meet online and may even be able to incorporate the horses via video! However we meet, I look forward to exploring your past with you to make sense of the present, for the possibility of a better future.
