Therapists for college students near Atlanta, GA
I believe counseling is about gaining a complete understanding of oneself to connect the dots of why we think, behave, and feel the way we do. Therapy can help one to see the connection and learn skills to change patterns of self-destructive behavior into life fulfilling achievements. Therapy is a safe space to explore the person you are and look at the negative experiences in your life to start the healing process. In therapy we can work together to understand yourself more fully and work towards the goals you determine. Life is not easy and seeking helping can be the first step to making lasting change towards the future you envision. I desire to help you gain the insight into you so that your future is brighter, and you are stronger in knowing who you are. Yes, we all think we have flaws but sometimes what we think are flaws are strengths hidden by biases and once we understand them a whole new perspective is unveiled. The first step is the hardest but after that I will be there for you each step of the process.
Feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, dating challenges, or life transitions? You don’t have to navigate it alone. I love working with college students seeking clarity, peace, and confidence—whether you're adjusting to campus life, preparing for the future, or feeling emotionally stuck and alone. Originally from Houston, Texas and now based in Atlanta, I’ve been fully licensed since 2018 and practicing since 2012. My early work focused on adolescents and families affected by substance use, but I found my sweet spot working with young adults navigating anxiety, relationship stress, and identity development. Whether you're facing college anxiety, academic pressure, or relationship concerns, I offer a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can process emotions and grow at your own pace. Therapy with me is relaxed, empowering, and rooted in real-life support. Healing isn’t instant, but it starts with being open, heard, and supported. Let’s take that first step—together.
Hello and welcome! Life can feel like a lot sometimes. You might be feeling overwhelmed by academic pressure, anxiety or depression, questioning your path, navigating complicated relationships, or trying to hold it all together while everyone else seems to be thriving. College and student life can bring growth and independence, but also burnout, impostor syndrome, loneliness, and identity questions. You don’t have to navigate it alone. I specialize in working with students experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and family or relationship challenges. Many of the clients I work with are untangling complex family dynamics, healing from past experiences, or learning how to set boundaries while honoring their cultural or personal values. I also support neurodiverse clients, including those with ADHD and executive functioning challenges, and understand the stress that can come from masking or feeling misunderstood in academic spaces. My approach blends cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic therapy, meaning we’ll look at both present patterns and deeper roots. Together, we’ll build insight, strengthen coping skills, and help you develop a more supportive and realistic inner voice. Therapy with me is collaborative — we’ll reflect, challenge patterns, and even laugh when it fits. I am committed to providing affirming, culturally responsive care for diverse clients, including BIPOC, neurodiverse, and LGBTQ+ individuals. If you’re exploring identity, belonging, or navigating systems that weren’t built with you in mind, that work is welcome here. I aim to create a space where you can show up as you are — warm, supportive, and real (not drive-thru mental health care). I am currently an Associate Professional Counselor (APC), working toward full licensure under the guidance of Lauren Vaughan-D'Angelo, LPC, CPCS. I provide virtual therapy for clients across Georgia, with evening and weekend availability. My standard rate is $125, and I accept select insurance plans as well as self-pay. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots to help keep therapy accessible and within reach. If you’re wondering whether we’re a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute phone “vibe check.”
Welcome! I’m glad you’re here. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable discussing the challenges you may be experiencing. As a therapist, I believe that you are the expert on your own experiences, and my role is to work collaboratively with you to identify your strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and work toward the goals that are meaningful to you. Therapy is a process, and you do not have to navigate it alone. Whether you are experiencing academic stress, relationship concerns, anxiety, life transitions, or simply feeling overwhelmed, this space is designed to support you. We will work together at a pace that feels comfortable while building skills that can help you manage current challenges and support your overall well-being. Thank you for trusting me to be part of your journey. I look forward to working with you!

Within my practice, I have diligently developed a way to blend person-centered counseling, trauma-informed care, and spiritual wellness to guide individuals to noticeable relief during life transitions, self-worth struggles, emotional wounds, and other various challenges. I work with young and maturing individuals ready for emotional awareness, self-worth restoration, and spiritual realignment. My clients seek a safe space to break free, rediscover, and become who they were created to be—whole, worthy, and beautifully aligned. As a therapist with more than 30 years of experience I know that investing in oneself takes time and effort but also that the outcome is well worth the commitment – YOU are worth the commitment. By working together to address issues related to trauma, mood (anxiety, depression, anger), LGBTQ+ identity, and/or life transitions we will work to create ways of thinking and acting that allow you to be the best version of you that you can be. Whether the issues to be addressed in therapy are relatively new or they have been with you since childhood, I can help you create the satisfying life you deserve. From our first interaction, you can expect me to be compassionate, empowering, open-minded, and empathetic. I will help you understand the ways in which your thought processes and behaviors interfere with your life and challenge you to incorporate healthier ways to cope. Together, we will create a space where you feel safe enough to be your authentic self. Please visit my website to understand more about how I would approach our work together or to read my blogs about topics commonly addressed in therapy. Gen Z and Millennial women are often bombarded with difficult life transitions such as adulting, relationship distress, quarter-life crises, career pursuits, parenting, caregiving, and more. This can be a lot to manage! Societal pressures plus the changing roles of women in this age group require a focused, feminist, and knowledgable approach. It can be tricky searching for the right therapist, so I appreciate you being here in the first place. My approach is fine-tuned, using radical genuineness, to help you learn how to manage these unique stressors while maintaining authenticity and calm. I am practiced in several targeted therapies that meet the needs of women in transition including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy). In my personal experience, I have come to view change as the only constant, which is why I find great value in being able to help my clients through significant life transitions. Looking back at the clients I've served over the years, I have been able to find something about every one of them that I admire. I love meeting my clients where they are and seeing how I can support their walk through life in a genuine, non-judgmental, and meaningful way. If this sounds like the right approach for you, feel free to reach out for a phone consult.

I help people who are feeling overwhelmed get back on track. I assist young adults anxious about work or life and who need support and tools to move ahead. Clients of all ages may be going through challenges or life transitions that show up as anxiety or depression or just feeling stuck. I also work with individuals and couples who are stuck in relationship patterns that no longer work for them. I’m knowledgeable about a variety of techniques such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapy, but I use a variety of approaches to helping my clients. As you might expect from my location in the heart of Atlanta, my clients are a diverse group of men and women. I strive to be an anti-racist therapist responsive to the needs of Black clients and other people of color. As a gay man I strongly support empowerment of women. LGBTQ concerns are a special focus of mine; you have the right to expect your therapist to be comfortable and knowledgeable about your concerns. I’ve been in private practice in Atlanta for more than 30 years. I work out of comfortable and tranquil home office in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood. (I also offer video sessions if that’s more convenient.) My clients find me engaged, supportive and nonjudgmental. Whether you’ve made use of counseling and therapy before or are seeking a counselor for the first time, I welcome questions you might have about working together.
