Are you a young adult who struggles to maintain friendships or succeed at work or school? I specialize in the treatment of children, adolescents and young adults who experience anxiety, social difficulties, behavioral issues, ADHD, or low self-esteem. Specifically, I have expertise working with neurodivergent clients. I enjoy helping clients experience greater success at school, home, work, or with peers--ultimately reducing anxiety and improving self-esteem. I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, behavioral strategies, and a strengths-based approach. My focus is on creating a strong, foundational relationship with clients. I value client feedback, and respect the unique needs and strengths of each person I work with. My goal is to encourage and empower individuals to reach their greatest potential.

My approach to psychotherapy is integrative and responsive to the needs of each individual person within the general contexts of multicultural sensitivity and a strong therapeutic relationship. Best summarized through Paul’s (1967) question: “What treatment, by whom, is most effective for this individual with that specific concern, and under which set of circumstances?" I have extensive experience working and training in University Counseling Centers (i.e., Penn State University Graduate Assistant, Pre-doctoral internship at Suffolk University, Post-doctoral Fellow at Tufts University followed by three years as a Staff Psychologist at Tufts). My clinical interests include college student mental health, in general; stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal concerns, drug and alcohol use/misuse/abuse; Men’s issues; Childhood trauma; Working with students on the Autism Spectrum; Identity concerns; Relationship concerns; Issues of diversity and inclusion.

I help individuals break free from cycles of anxiety, unhealthy habits, emotional exhaustion. I respond to everyone who makes an inquiry. College and grad school can be incredibly stressful in the best of circumstances, and there is always something... extra. :) I see lots of students and have helped them find peace with social or academic pressure, present or past family problems and new or re-surfacing mental health issues. I am low-key and easy to talk to, with a dry sense of humor. I will quickly understand and help with the issue you want to address, not tell you what I think you should change. I want you to be able to talk about what really matters, feel understood and seen, and become the person you want to be. Over my 25 years in the field I have worked with a wide diversity of people. Not much surprises me, and I’m very nonjudgmental. I have worked to understand racism and oppression, and poverty, and violence, and am also aware I still have a lot to learn. My clinical social work education was in traditional psychodynamic therapy with a strong social justice awareness. I have worked in multicultural and multilingual settings most of my career. I have certificates in the treatment of trauma and also in psychoanalytic studies. I am now training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and like how non-judgmental it is. My approach is eclectic, and has evolved over the years to be flexible and practical, tuning in to what will be helpful and effective for you. I like to work with young adults, parents, and students, and here are some areas in which I’ve helped people: -Childhood experiences that bother people or create difficulties -Anxiety -Young adulthood/ leaving home adjustment -Immigrant/ first generation acculturation, and adjustment to college -Substance use questions or problems, including historical family issues -Relationships and sexuality, including non-traditional situations -Grief, even about secrets -LGBTQIA+ concerns and family issues -Workplace challenges -Parenting, adjustment to becoming a parent -Depression Our first couple meetings would focus on whether what I have to offer is a good fit for you. I can work in a solution-focused way for just a few meetings, or longer-term. I wish you the best!

Hello! Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or have been in therapy before, I welcome you here. I would also like to recognize your courage and self-awareness for seeking help. College is a unique time in that lots of changes are happening. Perhaps you are feeling depressed, anxious, stressed, or unsure how to proceed; maybe you’re experiencing big transitions in school, relationships, or your sense of self in the world. In my practice, I use a mixture of talk psychotherapy and expressive therapies to help you address these big changes, to know and release emotions in a variety of ways so that you are able to effectively cope when things get hard. We may utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy to help address and change negative thoughts that are holding you back, and trauma-informed practices to help heal emotional wounds. I use a person-centered, strengths-based approach to counseling so that you feel empowered, confident, and fully supported in our therapeutic work together. I became a therapist because I don’t ever want people to feel they need to weather the storm alone. You deserve care, compassion, validation, and encouragement to keep going. Thank you for considering me a trusted ally in your journey to greater well-being.
